Synopsis

• What: Submit audio works inspired by the concept of Growth
• Deadline: June 29, 2025
• Format: WAV, max 8 min
• Theme: Biodiversity in all its literal and metaphorical forms
• Compensation: 100 € per selected track

Why do we grow? Should we advance? How should we develop? When do we thrive? Where do we spread?

After last year's breezy topic Æther, the fifth annual compilation, re:natura #05 – Crescere asks crucial questions about the concept of growth. Derived from Latin Crescere (to grow – think Crescendo), you are  encouraged to dive deeply into the concept of growth in natural sciences with a focus on biodiversity.

Ranging from reproduction and corporal development to population control, from invasive species to degrowth strategies, from metastases to social insects, you are invited to dig into a wealth of subtopics. The more specific, the better: Get inspired by rabbit holes, asian carp, mathematical growth models, Lemmus lemmus, Feedback cybernetics or Ailanthus altissima. 

The forthcoming audio compilation wants to examine growth ranging from a microscopic to macroscopic scale – from single cells to whole populations.

Even educated fleas do it […] 

Sound artists, poets, experimental musicians, researchers and sound designers are invited to share their unique and specific perspectives on the concept of growth. The Open Call is looking for short audio productions concerned with topics of biodiversity: These subtopics may concern the specific representation of species, habitats and ecosystems, the influences on biodiversity, the consequences of biodiversity loss and measures against the loss of biodiversity. Metaphorical, representational as well as literal concepts are welcome.

Submissions are due Sunday, June 29, 2025

Important: Please adhere to submission guidelines – only submissions via the Google form will be accepted. Please read all pages carefully.

After a subsequent review, a selection of up to 7 titles will be compiled and published on our Bandcamp website. Compensation for each track accepted for the compilation: 100 € gross (before taxes)

The compilation is curated by Hendrik Klatte and a jury – the selection will be made based on formal requirements and alignment with the overall topic as well as artistic quality and harmony with our self-image. The entire proceeds of the compilation sales on Bandcamp will go to the biodiversity program of Friends Of The Earth Germany.
